The book "With Love, Madras" covers my grandparent's home in Madras. I authored the piece on the evolution of the house through the years and what it means to each generation as a place called "home." I also worked on the layout of the article for the book, sifting through innumerable albums spanning decades to find the perfect pairing of photographs to place along side the text. The write-up gives the reader a glimpse of life in the 60's in Madras, set against anĀ Art Deco backdrop.
At the heart of the home sits a wooden dining table. Ask any family member, and they will have a distinct memory tied to it. I contributed to the Museum of Material Memory archives and co-authored an essay that shines a light on the history of the table, that can be read here -
